Shape Your Skills Award
We are so excited to be able to offer this new accredited award to all children in the Huntingdonshire area!
The Shape Your Skills Award is an accredited personal development programme created by the Leadership Skills Foundation for children aged 7–11 (Key Stage 2). Rather than focusing on academic attainment, it develops the personal and social skills children need to succeed in school and beyond.
What is the aim of the award?
The programme helps pupils develop:
* Communication
* Teamwork
* Organisation
* Problem solving
* Resilience
* Self-belief/confidence
* Leadership
Children learn these skills through practical, play-based activities and are encouraged to reflect on how they use them in everyday situations.
How is it delivered?
We have chosen to deliver this is a special afterschool session at Hemingford Grey Primary School over 13 weeks in the Autumn Term
What does my child get?
* Leadership Passports for pupils
* Skill stickers that pupils collect as they progress
* Assessment guidance
What do pupils do?
The programme is split into four main stages:
1. Introduction to the award and leadership.
2. Skill development, where pupils practise key life skills through games and challenges.
3. A Leadership Challenge, where pupils apply everything they’ve learned to solve a real-world problem or lead an activity.
4. Ready to Lead, where they reflect on their learning and celebrate their achievements.
How are pupils assessed?
Assessment is based on participation, reflection and demonstrating the skills during activities and the final leadership challenge. There are no formal tests or exams.
What do pupils receive?
On successful completion, pupils receive:
* An accredited Leadership Skills Foundation certificate
* A completed Leadership Passport
* Recognition of their personal development and leadership skills.
